Flickering Flames Socks

Only one of these socks count for SS of Ss as the first one was completed almost a year ago. Pattern: Flickering Flames - Black Dog Designs
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in 'Flame'.
Needles: 2.75 Brittany Birch DPs.
I don't like these socks. Gorgeous yarn, just hate how it pooled and I think it was too much colour for this pattern. Wish the whole pair had behaved like the pooled section because I actually think it's nicer. I really like the pattern. It is easy to learn and makes a very pretty pair of socks, but you just can't see it or appreciate the lace pattern in this yarn. Not a good set of choices on my part. I will definitely make this pattern again as I really enjoyed knitting it, but I will pick a much "quieter" yarn next time. Live and Learn. :o)

I like the pooling, too. And I love the yarn color. But..yeah, I can't really tell what's going on with the pattern.

They are lovely to look at, though. Perhaps, if they bug you, you could gift them to someone? Someone who doesn't read blogs and won't know the socks aggravate you? ;)

yeah I agree - each other them is fantastic - great pattern and great yarn, just probably too much together. They look great from a distance but the pattern is lost and isn't that the point of them? Still, you know this. And what Amy said - give them to someone else!

My daughter was trying them on yesterday. If she wants them, they are hers. I probably won't wear them with shoes, but if DD doesn't want them, they will become house socks. I'll probably appreciate all that "heat" in the dead of winter!
