Remember the toe-up socks here? They're Gone, Daddy, Gone. (I'm a retro kind of girl.) I gave the diabolical short-row heel two attempts before frogging, and I'll find another toe-up pattern, perhaps this one. Kate directed me to a page full of them, but for the first attempt I need to stick close to gauge. I'm not confident enough in my altering abilities until I understand what I'm doing. The heel in the On Your Toes pattern? Is evil. Seriously warped. I've no problem with learning new techniques--I have been a fearless knitter since Day One--but this...this...it's simply filling my head with levels of profanity not fit for a blog.
So I'll stop typing now.

Nooooooo! Evil frogging!
Hope second attempt works more succesfully!!
Try some of Wendy Knits toe-up patterns as long as you know how to cast on. They're easy to follow.
oh wow. I so didn't see that coming. I thought you were doing great. I hear the short row heel is fabulous, but that was from someone who did it top down. Maybe toe up it's a freaking nightmare.
I think there are different ways of doing it. This way is definitely a freaking nightmare. Knitting should not make you sweat with exertion and anxiety, you know?
i am sooo glad to hear someone else, esp someone who is a WAY better/cleverer knitter than me, had nightmares with this pattern. the cast on was hard on but the short row heel an absolute shocker, and im so glad i frogged mine and started something else! thank you amy for making me feel just a little bit less of a failure!
