I'm happy to finally report on a finished pair of socks! This pattern is "Whitby" from Knitting on the Road, which I started on the way home from knitting camp at the beginning of the month. I had to frog and restart once, as the number of stitches suggested just wasn't working for me. (I actually went up to 67 from the 51 suggested.) It was an easily memorized pattern and the cables were fun without being bothersome. I also tried out an eye of partridge heel for the first time. The yarn is the last of my Colinette Jitterbug; I love the colours, but I don't think I'll be getting any more. (My Vinnlands are already starting to pill and felt from a single wear.) I knitted these at the same time on 2.75mm needles using the two-circulars method. I think a goal of one pair per month is pretty do-able...

Stunning! Absolutely beautiful. I'm dying to make these.
Sorry to hear the colinette is pilling so soon. That's very disappointing.
So pretty! And a great photo of the sock pattern, shows it up really well. Shame about the Colinette, I haven't knit with mine yet. Might try a tighter gauge maybe??
These are lovely!!
Thanks, everybody! Yeah, a tighter gauge might help with the pilling, but I'm such a tight knitter anyway that I worry I won't be able to get it over my chubby ankles. :)
Wow. I am in awe. These are gorgeous.
Yeah, I could have gone up more stitches than I did, too, although they're definitely wearable. I have two skeins of Jitterbug in different colors, bought when I didn't know enough about sock knitting. I asked another customer (it was a big sale) if I could get two socks from one skein and she assured me I could. So they are destined to be just stockinette socks, I think, as I've read it's hard to get two socks from 100g.
I'll definitely make this pattern again. The diamonds didn't show up as well on the Soft Sea Wool; they show up nicely on the Jitterbug.
I made it out of the 100g, but just barely. I think I shortened the leg an inch or two just to be safe...
Thanks for pointing us to that tutorial for the eye of partridge heel. That is a really great site with useful information.
