Finished Pair

A finished pair of remarkably similar socks. You may remember that my goal was identical (but chiral)...I did not achieve this goal as I ran out of the brown and had to finish with only the blue.

In other news - I am moving back to the US on Thursday/Friday, and I have mailed most of my yarn stash ahead of me. So the next sock I cast-on will probably be for me, with whatever yarn I have left here for the carry-on bag, using basic sock construction (hello short-rows!) and a stitch pattern from the knitting daily stitch of the day site...knitting daily also just posted a very good tutorial on converting flat stitch patterns to knitting in the round.

Fabulous!!

Great socks!
Are you glad to be heading back to civilisation? (Civilisation being here defined as: the land of store-bought DPNs!)
Looking forward to the next pair.

You do know you can't take knitting needles [of any kind] in your 'carry on' luggage, don't you? I would hate for you to have your knitting confiscated at the airport.

Kate: YAY first-world convenience!!!!! I am so excited to buy my very first ever circular needles...and to magic loop and knit two at a time. and to buy actual sockweight yarn. and to eat sushi and grocery shop at three am if I darn well feel like it. :D

Lynne: I don't know what the rules are like for australian airlines, but the american regulatory body is the TSA, and according to their official .gov website, knitting needles and crochet hooks are allowed in both carry-on and checked luggage. but thank you so much for your concern, as it was something I kept meaning to double-check for sure and then only remembering once I had turned the computer off [when I got back to my knitting :) ]
