First finished pair!!

I'm so excited! I finally finished my first pair of socks!! I used the Silver Sock Class pattern which was an awesome way to start. Love how many pictures they had. The only thing that I found very difficult was the grafting of the toe. I got it by the end of the second sock but it still doesn't look very neat.

These socks are *itchy*. Really, really *itchy*. I'll soak them in some wool wash and see what happens. Right now I couldn't even bear to put them on for the photos!

I'm so excited about knitting socks that I've started my next pair! The crazy thing is that I'm in the middle of exams and really should be concentrating on them. Ah well. :) I'm making up some Monkey socks with some old Sirdar Wonderland from my Granny's stash.

Boy, that was a quick comment on my post, just below yours. Congratulations on the first pair. Awesome feeling, isn't it? You could try adding a bit of hair conditioner to the rinse when you wash your socks. Could soften them up for you.

Jan - I was thinking Wool Wash since they are 80% wool. Would that work?? You know, the eucalyptus stuff.

Give it a try. I haven't used conditioner but I know others who have.

it's a bit addictive, this sock-knitting lark, isn't it?!

Sorry to hear your first pair were a bit itchy - a soak in woolly wash certainly won't hurt them, and will probably improve and soften their texture though!

good luck on the next pair, but don't forget to study too!

Great job on your socks - congratulations! Washing should soften them up a bit.

Congratulations!! And grafting really IS one of those things that just gets easier the more you do it. I can remember that awful feeling of doing it before I understood it, and I'd get simply panicky that I'd mess it up and have no clue how to fix it. But now I don't even need to refer to directions, I've done it so often. So I just wanted to tell you, it gets better. :)
