My first ever pair of socks

My personal challenge: to knit one pair of socks!

I have never knit socks before but I'm willing to give them a try. I have a skein of Colinette Jitterbug in the lagoon colourway (all greens and blues) now what am I going to knit?

I have dpns, I have the pattern that came on the ball band, before I start are there any other suggestions for a first pair of socks pattern?

Great to hear Leonie!

You can't go past the sock 101 tutorial on knitty. You make a baby sock with it so that you learn the techniques quickly. Invaluable stuff!

My favourite sock pattern is the 'basic vanilla sock pattern' by the Yarn Harlot.
So easy & explained simply.

I did my first sock in 8ply yarn which was great as it knitted up quick. Just a plain stocking stitch cuff down sock. Bells and CelesteM have given great suggestions for patterns! You go girl!

No suggestions to beat what's been said, but a hint. Just follow the pattern and do what it says, even if it seems not to make sense. Then suddenly you will see a heel that you've done all by yourself!
