I had a day off work today so I decided I'd do a sock stash roundup. While most people in Australia were watching the Melbourne Cup, I was trying to work out how to organise the yarn into a colour wheel...is that sacrilege? Am I unAustralian??!!
I was pleasantly surprised at being able to (pretty much) make a whole wheel, I didn't think I'd have yarn in all (well, most of) the required shades. I did have to consult the lovely yarn wheel that Purl uses in their ads (I'm sure readers of Interweave Knits will know what I mean).
And if you are numerically inclined, there's enough sock yarn there for 69 pairs of socks. Oh dear. Even if I did a pair a month (which I don't) that's enough sock yarn for nearly 6 years. Which is clearly not enough to keep me going until retirement, is it!!

Oh wow. I'm speechless. You have to post this on your own blog, you must! That is so very cool. Doing that was much better than watching the cup, which I didn't either. I was busy making chocolate sauce and didn't even look up.
And you know, 6 years isn't that long. Retirement is longer. You must buy more sock yarn!
Hooley Dooley!!! That's a lot of sock wool and I love the colour wheel effect!!! I ahve been retired for more than 6 years now, Bells is right!!
Oh my!
I sympathise - I'd much prefer to organise yarn that watch the Cup :)
Amazed at your stash.
I am so impressed! Especially with the ability to fill the colour wheel.
You need to incorporate that photo into your Ravelry avatar!
i was wondering when you might get around to 'fessing up. this is better even than i imagined. i am beyond green with envy (glad to see thereis not TOO much going on in that section of the wheel). this is really a work of art you know.
Wow!! Very impressive!
(Now I wonder if you can also arrange your shoes into a colour wheel... hehe... ;p )
Oh my - that is a very impressive sock yarn collection! Keep collecting I say.
That is a beautiful colour wheel. I appreciate the time you spent putting it together.
While 'the race' was on, I was rearranging the vocab on the walls of my classroom!
ROFL, love this!!!!
That is an amazing array, but which to knit with first? That is the question!!!
lordy - just making the wheel justifies the stash.
Awesome, I am so jealous!
Love how you have arranged the yarn, i have seen some impressive stashes, but yours wins handsdown just because of the amazing array of colours!
