Last of the Summer Socks

Okay, so I didn't fully complete my challenge which was:

1. Knit more than 5 pairs.
2. Knit only from sock yarn already in my possession.
3. Try magic loop.

But I came close. I failed on the more than 5 pairs but I finished all 5 pairs that I did knit. I knitted only from sock yarn I already had and I tried and successfully completed a pair of socks using magic loop.

Here are the last two completed pairs:

The first pair is Embossed Leaves of which only the pattern part of the sock is the same as the original. The cuff and toe are plain old cuffs and toes. I'm a little bit lazy and took the easy road. They were knitted with Fleece Artist Sokomo in the Mermaid colourway. I really enjoyed knitting these socks.

The second pair are Luminare Socks. I struggled with these. I didn't like the yarn all that much, Knittery Slim Sock in Royal Velvet, and I kept having to rip back so often that it's a wonder they were finished at all. Their redeeming feature is that I love the colour and the pattern was sort of fun. I also made a mistake in not following the pattern properly but they look good and I am pleased with them.

I think I'm a bit socked out so that's all from me until next summer though I will probably knit some more socks during the year.

Number Six off the Sticks

Not sure when I last posted, but I've recently finished pair number 6 - Cookie A's Pomatomus using Merino from The Knittery.

I started these in Sydney before Xmas; took them to Melbourne where the missus and I holidayed for a coupla weeks, then finished them back home.

I'm now halfway along the first sock for pair number 7 - Tidal Wave Socks using Tofutsies, which I'm really enjoying!

Back to Work (SSS and The Real Thing)

The Little Guys are done in a beautiful purple and teal colourway from the Knittery. Check her out here http://www.theknittery.com.au
Daphne's colours are beautiful and her sevice is incredible.

I used a garter stitch sole to ensure they will stretch as my niece grows over the next few months but otherwise followed the pattern exactly. They should last about 12 months size-wise.

I have just cast on a nother pair in the Noro Sock yarn acquired by the wonderful spiraling for a lot of us.

Off to knit some more socks. More at http://jpknittingandstuff.blogspot.com/.

Something to Blog About

At last I have finished the 5th pair in my SSS Mission. I have also got 3 pairs actively on the needles again. Yay.

I finished a plain stockinette pair in The Knittery's Sea Breeze colourway after a couple of attempts at a very different pattern that I just couldn't get a fit around the ankles with - maybe for a pair of gloves?
My next pair is an adapted pair of little guys (Only a patial tally count I know) for my niece because she was over whilst I was knitting the ones above and was coming over to hug the sock every five minutes.
I also have some Cat Bordhi new architecture socks on the needles (I now have enough yarn to finish them) and another pair for dh in an Opal that is quite scratchy after the Socks that Rock and Knittery yarn.
Sock Block is over.....YAy! More at http://jpknittingandstuff.blogspot.com/

Another pair done!

These socks are what I call Almost After Bertha socks. I started off knitting the After Bertha socks from the Socks, Socks, Socks book but then I found that those socks do not have a heel and the toe was odd looking so I added a heel and gave the toe a more normal look. They're knitted with The Knittery's 4-ply Merino in the Orchid colourway. I used 2.5mm needles.
