Globe Trotters!

Tim's socks are finished - unfortunately the foot is too tight (humm - my tension square for the rib compared to the stocking stitch is completely out. So, they will be keeping my feet warm next winter, not my first choice in colour, but in all reality who is going to see them under long pants and inside boots anyway?

Oh, I best introduce myself.

My name is Kylie (mumsbusycrafting on Rav) and I blog here. These are my first pair of adult socks - the first were a pair of Yarn mag Baby Socks. I would like to learn more about sock knitting and learn lots of skills - I am planning on having a pair on the go in a little bag that can be picked up and taken with me for spare moment occasions.

Another two pairs, one deep purple and white, the other in your face yellow Opal. Both for Winterwarm. I've made several pairs of the Opal and the ball seems no smaller, even though I also made one of a pair for me. It turned out too sloppy for my liking, I like my socks snug, but I haven't yet frogged it. I guess the wool I have left will make several more pairs of children's socks. It depends on two things - my patience with the bright yellow and the amount of wool. I wonder which will be exhausted first?

I really don't like knitting with Opal. It's thin like string and annoys the arthritis in my fingers. However, it washes like a dream and mine go in the dryer too. I'm still wearing a pair many years old and they look like new.

Something to Blog About

At last I have finished the 5th pair in my SSS Mission. I have also got 3 pairs actively on the needles again. Yay.

I finished a plain stockinette pair in The Knittery's Sea Breeze colourway after a couple of attempts at a very different pattern that I just couldn't get a fit around the ankles with - maybe for a pair of gloves?

My next pair is an adapted pair of little guys (Only a patial tally count I know) for my niece because she was over whilst I was knitting the ones above and was coming over to hug the sock every five minutes.

I also have some Cat Bordhi new architecture socks on the needles (I now have enough yarn to finish them) and another pair for dh in an Opal that is quite scratchy after the Socks that Rock and Knittery yarn.

late recovery?

Finished my two christmas pairs.
Finished these (for the boyfriend) yesterday:Opal Rainforest (first series) in Doktorfisch, Slipped-stitch Rib from Sensational Knitted Socks.
And these (for friend L) today:Interweave Web Sock pattern in Lincraft Hot Socks.
And i can still remember a time when the idea of getting self-striping identical twin socks seemed tricky...
still got my thumb in the pie ;)
