Three socks down, several more to go

At last I have some progress to share. I've finished my first pair and the first of a pair and also have the starts to two other pairs.

The first pair is a pair of Patonyle socks which I've called Plain Rib because the pattern consists of a couple of rows of knit and a couple of rows of rib. Very simple and easy to remember.


The next sock is knitted with Wollmeise and is a free pattern available at The Loopy Ewe.


Now that the first pair is done, I am allowing myself another start which should be when I get to try Magic Loop as part of my challenge.

back on track.. maybe?

After doing a good deal of other knitting over the SSS, i have finally turned around and gotten back to one of my goals: namely, finishing up unfinished pairs.
So, add one ankle sock to my tally (is that a 1/2?).

one and a bit

Yikes, I had a lovely post written and BLOGGER ate it all up. Showed it had been autosaved but there was nothing there! So here are a few details, no replcation of the longer post I had slaved over. LOL.

The first sock has been done slowly, even though it is a four stitch repeat of two rows only. It's Heirloom argyll from my stash. Bought in early 2005. The pattern is from my Knitting Stitch Bible This colour is nothing like real life. It should be a teal blue/green mix. The other photos I took were almost black in the grey light here this morning. I'm holding the sock in one hand to stretch out the pattern so it can be seen.

I like Argyll but wish the colour range was greater. I suppose these were what was considered "manly." I think I've used most of the colours in the range, but that doesn't say much, I think it's only five or six.

My eyes needed some light relief from the Argyll so yesterday I was able to find this Patonyle. The pattern is from More Sensational Knitted Socks.

The sock is deciding if it's worthwhile undoing the hammock up here on the third floor balcony or if it's too windy. Now there's a thought! I haven't tried knitting in a hammock before. May not be very comfortable.

Stats : Simple lace sock, yo's and k2togs, slipped stitch heel, modelled by the WD40 which was handy, and teddy.
I started sock knitting about 5 pairs ago because my lovely mum had bought sock yarn when on a bus trip and then did not start her first pair, so I got some too to show her how easy it was, and probably for the first time ever I showed her how to do something. Anyhow these are for her since she kept buying sock yarn (we all know how this ends eh?) and somehow got more than she could knit.

So I have started too, and with the stinking hot spring we suddenly have (hottest October day since record keeping started!) its socks, and more sock from here on in. Must keep knitting from stash (hers and mine).
