Crocheted socks #2
Same yarn and same pattern as last time. At least the colour is slightly different!

Crocheted socks #1
To be honest, I started them on September 22, but the second sock was started on October 2, so it kind of counts, right?

I used Wollmeise sock yarn in the Sonne colourway. The pattern is "Pebbled Sand" from the Crocheted Socks book by Janet Rehfeldt. I love these socks. The colour is eye-bleedingly vivid. Can't wait until autumn next year when I can wear them.
The rest of the story (and more photos) is here.
Cheers

The Sock Crocheter
I participated last year and wasn't too successful as I think I only made 2 1/2 pairs of socks. I recall I had a lot of entries to the show to make at the time, and I may have gotten a little waylaid.
But this year I'm back and I'm crocheting socks with a vengeance. The reason? I want to get through some of this sock yarn stash:

I've already used the brown Regia, and half the Sonne Wollmeise, and I sold some Patonyle ... but the rest is mine for the crocheting.
And I haven't mentioned yet that in about February next year I'm taking possession of five projects' worth of Knitpicks sock yarn, so I need to make room!
That's my only goal - to crochet lots of socks. My goal is five pairs.

Back on my feet
This is the story of the four day tennis socks. I started them on Thursday night and had finished them by Lleyton Hewitt's match last night (Monday). Yep, I spent the entire time on the couch watching the tennis and crocheting these.
The pattern is minicluster lace socks from "Crocheted Socks" by Janet Rehfeldt and Mary Jane Wood. I used Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Merino in Heathered Loden which, if you haven't already tried it, is the most beautiful wool EVER to make socks with. Just my opinion.
More of the story, and a ridiculous photo, here.

Thanks heavens - a pair finished!
It's been ages since I posted a completed pair of socks, but here we are. Last night I finished my Rosebud ankle socks, and I am in love with socks again!

I used Kattwings yarn in Rosebud, and I bastardised a couple of patterns (one for the ribbed leg and another for the short row heel) and made the rest up as I went along.
For those who are wondering what crocheted socks feel like to wear, well they aren't as stretchy as knitted socks are so they look huge when you make them, and they are a little but more "bobbly" and give your foot a nice little massage as you walk along. But they are just lovely to wear, very warm and they keep their shape well if you make them to fit your foot snugly.
Next on the hook is some clustered lace socks in Cherry Tree Hill SS Heathered Loden. So far, so good! I'll keep you posted.

Pair #2, sock #1; Pair #3 ... oops!
Things have been busy at Chez Quiltingmick. But I allowed myself some time last weekend to get stuck into Pair #2. I'm using the "In your Shoes Ankle Socks" pattern from Crochet Me, and other than a very strange way to do a heel (almost as an afterthought!) I'm extremely happy with how they have turned out. I've done one sock, using Sullivan's Sock Yarn (love the yarn - it's really surprised me with how lovely it is).
Then I allowed myself to get distracted by the most beautiful handdyed wool by the lovely Kattwings at Etsy. It arrived early last week and I have been enamoured by it's rosy hues ever since.
(Note: Sock #2 or Pair #2 not even started yet ...)

Those bl**dy crocheted socks again
Hello there - friendly neighbourhood crocheter posting!
I've finally done my first ever pair of crocheted socks, but not without distractions. On Tuesday I was a mere 3 inches from the end of the last sock, but what did I do instead? I started the ribbing for a second pair. Mr QM complained rather loudly, stating one of my challenges was to actually complete a pair.
So tonight I did it. Besides, the back loop ribbing on the second pair was driving me barmy and I needed, ironically, a distraction from it.
I used Four Season Grundl Michaela sock yarn, with a 3.5 mm hook. Three balls were used and I had about a metre left of the yarn (LUCKY!) As these are my first ever finished socks and I did butcher a sock pattern beyond belief, I'm more than happy to critique them. I'd make them smaller next time, for sure. The length is fine and the heel is perfect, but the foot and ankle are a little too wide.

Don't hate it 'cos it's crocheted
Is this the first attempt at crocheted socks in this KAL/CAL?
I commenced these socks on Oct 1 - and just have to do the toe of the first one. The yarn is 'Four Seasons Michaela' and I love how the diagonal stripes have magically appeared on the leg.

I did a sideways black-loop cuff which I much prefer to the usual front post/back post cuff. The stretch is a lot better as well. I'm started using a pattern, but I have changed so much of it that it doesn't bear telling you which pattern I'm not really using.
For those who have not done a crochet sock before, you might not know that the stretch of a knitted sock is just not there, so you have to make the sock a lot wider at the leg so it will go over your foot. I think a lot of people were alarmed at my huge sock at SnB the other night!
